Click-a-pic challenge #109 "A little bit of color" **deadline April 30th**

Bringing back an oldie but a goodie challenge!

Sometimes in a black & white image you want to show the color of one object & leave the rest of the image black & white.

How does one achieve this type of look?

Open the image in photoshop, create a duplicate layer (Layer > New > Layer via copy)
with the new layer highlighted in the layers palette, take your lasso tool and trace around the object you wish to leave colored. (magnify your canvas if you need to, you can use the magic wand tool instead of the lasso if that's easier.)
with your object selected, go up to Select > Inverse to select everything but the object you want to leave colored.
choose the brush tool. Pick a brush that has a “feathered edge” as opposed to a hard edge. Make the brush size between 400-500 pixels.
Change the brush mode to “Saturation”. (this is right next to where you select the brush size).
Take the brush and start coloring over the image, make sure you cover every area well. You'll notice that everything will become desaturated (except the selected color image).
Deselect (Cntrl D), magnify the canvas and go back with your brush tool (change the size to 100 pixels or less) and do any clean up around the object. (any left behind colored pixels)
merge layers (Cntrl E). and you have a b/w image with selective coloring.
You can boost the saturation of the colored object or tweak the contrast of the b/w image.
