Does anyone have a local Octoberfest in their area?? This weekend is a labour day 3 day weekend for us which also means the annual Octoberfest running for 3 days. The festival has been running in our area for years. I'd say we've only missed 1 or 2 years in 15 years that we've lived here. We usually round up a group of friends to go.

We head over on Sunday just before lunch to secure some good seats before all the younger partiers :crowded: get there. Treat ourselves to some fabulous yummy German food and of course a few beers and schnapps! Our other tradition is to buy some silly hat or wig from one of the stalls to wear for the day.

Sunday is also our Grand Final Football game so we head back to our house for all the guys to watch the game and eat pizza.

I'll be back in a few days with some photos :D

I don't live too far away from Germany so we can go there for the oktoberfest and have schnapps and beer ! ;) But yes, there's also a local beer and wine fest where i live.

How fun! I have not been since I was a kid and we lived in Germany. Of course then I was much more into the rides than the beer.

Nothing around here that I know of, but I will have to find out! It sounds like fun. Can't wait to see your pictures!

Ours is the weekend of the 18th. We've never been but we're trying to go this year. Have fun and can't wait to see pictures Kirstie!

There are lots of different ones around here. I've never been. I went a few times in California with my High School German class. You had to go as a part of the class. Of course we didn't get beer then.

Have fun Kirstie. Can't wait to see pics.

No, we don't really have anything in October - the end of September we have Who-zha-wa days which celebrates the end of summer. Same idea though,

Well, since I'm in Southern Germany, my local Oktoberfest is in Munich. :) We don't drink beer, but we went last year just to see it. Parking is a beast during Oktoberfest, so we took the train (about 1.5 hours from our house). It was really awesome seeing the huge beer tents and all the carnival rides, but the train ride home was HORRIBLE!! One chick sitting next to us threw up all over herself and the floor and smeared it everywhere because she was so drunk. It was so nasty! So, we decided to skip it this year. :)

I'm not aware of anything from our sleepy little town...BUT...I was just out of town at an all-staff conference and I'm pretty sure I drank enough to have had my own Oktoberfest!

I've got some photos still to process before I can post but will hopefully be back soon.

We had an awesome day and I drank way too much beer and then plenty of schnapps shots! It's a wonder that I'm not ill today.
