Anyone have photo ideas for kiddos this year. Last year I had the boys bake cookies and they had their chefs aprons and hats on. The year before they were in flannel x-mas pj's.
I want to start planning now because we are going on vacation from Nov. 20th - Dec. 5th. Also, from now until x-mas is all of my guys b-days too. Including hubby. It's going to be a whirlwind around here.
My family always enjoys and looks forward to what I will do each year.
TIA!

Thanks Megan. I'm drawing a blank this year though. :annoyed:

I don't think its too early at all.
Matter of fact we've already got our pictures done.
I'm planning on making little 4x6 pictures scrapbook style of course and handing those out to everyone.
We took pictures of me and my son in our matching Saskatchewan Roughrider shirts and hats.
We're big football fans and last year our team won the Grey Cup (american Superbowl lol)
So this is our way of honouring our team and showing what we do with most of our lives LOL

Hmmmmmm..what about something with ornaments?
Hanging them or holding them.
Maybe paint then each with a letter that spells JOY since you have 3?
I'll keep thinking...

Oh fun ideas!! I think I might do the thing where we each hold a letter to spell "hope" or some word... but we'll see!

Another cute idea I've seen is to have your kids tangled up in Christmas lights. Then take a picture with the overhead lights off and only the Christmas lights on. Obviously, you will need to take the picture quickly before the lights get too hot and take precautions to make sure no one gets too tangeld up, but the end result can look really, really cool!

Ohh great fun ideas!!
What about something with a Holidday book? or Antler Hats?
We are terrible. Anytime I line the kids up, I say "Okay this is for the Christmas Card," in hopes of getting a good shot. Never works!

it's going to snow here before mid-December (LOL). I love pictures where the kids are outside in the snow in chunky knit sweaters with a snowman. Since we often have a green Christmas I've never actually taken one of those but it would look neat for a Christmas card.
I'd settle for a Christmas card photo with everyone looking in the same direction and no one making moose ears behind someone else's head.
Kathleen from Canada
p.s. I usually just dress them in something nice and stick them in front of the tree.

I need to do mine too. Letters need to be sent out by November so it can actually reach people by Christmas. Our post office is the most unreliable service ever. :gah:

I found this site that I thought that had some really cute ideas:
http://photography.suite101.com/article.cfm/christmas_card_photo_ideas
Here is what we did last year:
http://www.charmingsilverdesigns.com/images/2007christmascard.jpg
I bought the big plastic candy cane at the dollar store and took it to the photo shoot. Aiden was at that stage where EVERYTHING went in his mouth so this shot turned out to be kind of cute on the card! I love the idea of humorous family pics - it would really stand out among all the usual, boring, everyone-face-front-and-smile cards! LOL!

Here is what I might do for my girls...put them in santa hats, white shirts & red tu tu's & have the card say Wishing you a holiday that is "Tu-Tu" Good! (I saw it online somewhere & thought it was such a cute idea!)

K...still on this theme, I need some help too! What kind of fabric do I need for a white backdrop? I have some black, but thought I'd try white this year. Anyone?
I may go for the "JOY" idea this year... ;)

I don't know, that's where I need major help. I just got a nice camera this summer and want to do my own. I don't think we have enough light anywhere in our house, but I'd like to at least TRY--but I need a good backdrop! White or black! But I'm so so cheap, I need cheap stuff.

If you want cheap (which is what I always go for!) I just use knit fabric, that way it doesn't wrinkle. When you're done just throw it in the closet, and you don't ever have to iron it!!! (the iron and I are NOT friends!) Plus it looks great, white and black.

Okay, what do you mean by knit fabric? If I walk into a fabric store and say I need some knit fabric, what are they going to show me? LOL! :shake: I know, I'm :loco:...

Just the cheap stretchy stuff, but you'll want to try and get something thick. Especially with white so it's not see-through. Seriously, check WalMart, they have awesome stuff like this in the $1 a yard section, I got mine for under $5!!!!

I was thinking around that. I'm totally going to have to go!
Now, I need some recommendations for lighting. Obviously outside is best, but I don't want that to be the only place! My house is just too dark! Any easy, cheap lighting help?

Target always sells these Santa suits around x-mas. I got this one at the thrift store. You could have someone be a snowman or a reindeer with Santa.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v135/missys23/snunes_hollyberries_reide.jpg
I will see if I have anymore ideas. I know I did one of G & B when they were babies in snow caps. I can't find it though.

Holy moly girl! Those are AWESOME!!!!! Even better seeing them than hearing about them! LOVE the flannel pagamas! Seriously! I doubt I could find any for my tiny girls, but maybe in the future!
I think I might do the red tutu thing with santa hats--but with a different saying... :)

Those are ALL darling Missy! I might just have to DL them and put them in my stash for years to come! :)
Sarah, I'm not much help with lighting...Abbie's room is south facing, and in the morning I can just open her window up wide and the lighting is great...do you have ANY rooms that would work? You could always just fly to Utah, and Katie could take them in her new studio!!! ;)

*sigh*
Remind me to get myself one done soon.
Missy, the red & light blue one of your boys is the most breathtaking, envy-inspiring card EVER!!! First, I wish I could get pictures like that. They look like they were clipped from a magazine! Next, I loooooooove that light icy blue for Christmas and with the red polka dots and that two-toned stampy title - it's to die for!!! Might seriously have to MERCILESSLY scraplift you on that one. Like, shameless scrap lift. :D
What kind of camera do you have? Did you take those amazing shots?

Thank you Tay! Lift away. The card was made from a template by Jen Caputo. It was free off her blog a few years ago. Might still be there. Free kit by Shabby Princess too with a few of Miss Mints things on there too. The stamp and tag. I have a Canon Rebel the oldest one 300D. Yup, I took those pics. We get more light in our house in the winter because all the leaves are off the trees. They are some of my fav. pics.
