The first assignment I received in my 1st basic photography course in college was to shoot shadow & light. This was back in the day before the digital revolution and people still shot with film. I logged many hours in the university darkroom, and eventually my own darkroom processing my black & white prints.
For this challenge I issue you the same assignment. Find contrasting elements of shadow and light. Maybe they create a pattern or create a harsh comparison. There is no limitation on the creativity of the object you photograph. However, for this challenge I'd like photos submitted to be in BLACK & WHITE only. Black & white photographs really enhances the contrast of the shadow and the highlights.
Here (http://www.picturecorrect.com/tips/black-and-white-photo-conversion-in-photoshop/ ) are some rather simple and straight forward steps to getting a good black & white photograph without just desaturating it. Or you can download Photoshop actions to do the work for you. Such as this one: http://www.atncentral.com/bw_conv.htm*
If you have any questions please feel free to post them or email me. I'm here to help.
