Are you a music lover? Who isn't right? Do you enjoy poetry? Those words & verses that speak to our soul! I've always thought of song lyrics as poetry...at least poetry that I can understand anyway! :)

For this challenge I want everyone to photograph something that represents one of your favorite music lyrics or favorite poems. Keep in mind the rules of composition and some of the other elements we've covered so far. For this challenge think a little outside the box. Try not to be too literal with your interpretation and more artistic.

Also when posting your photo, whether it be in this thread or in the gallery, please include the inspiring poem or song lyric phrases so we can all see what moves you! :)

If you have any questions please feel free to post them or email me. I'm here to help.

You have from*Friday Aug 21st*to*Thursday Aug 27th*to shoot your photos for this theme. Please submit only photos taken during that time frame. Below are some examples to get the creative juices flowing. Good luck and I look forward to seeing everyones photos!

*i used a 'midnight sepia' action to create the "dreamy" effect.*

Let the rain kiss you.
Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops.
Let the rain sing you a lullaby.
- Langston Hughes, April Rain Song

*i used a duotone action to create the taupe-y gray color, instead of straight b/w. i also did a long exposure where i had the camera on a tripod. my apeture was at f22 and my shutterspeed 2 seconds! i had my oldest daughter & my son walk quickly around my chair to illustrate the busy-ness of children and moms just wanting to slow down!*

"Slow Motion" by David Gray

"While I was watching you did a slow dissolve
While I was watching you did a slow dissolve
While I was watching you did a slow dissolve

Did I imagine or do the walls have eyes
Did I imagine they held us hypnotized
Did I imagine or do the walls have eyes

Life in slow motion somehow it don't feel real
Life in slow motion somehow it don't feel real
Life in slow motion somehow it don't feel real "

REMEMBER:
- You may post up to 2 photos per challenge.

Oh, this one is difficult. Just to find a good poetry in English which is not my mother language....
Let's see if I think of something for this one.

I somehow missed last weeks challenge. But the "photo shoot" I had to do this week turned out to be my CAP photo too- how convenient! TFL

i have been very indecisive with this one and then on the way home from shopping last night i heard a song on klove that i had not heard in ages and reminded me of how i am struggling with everything here lately.

the song is call in the light by dc talk. these are the lyrics that inspired this photo...

i want to be in the light
like you are in the light
i want to shine like the stars in the heavens
oh lord be my light
and be my salvation
cos all i want is to be in the light

i'm done... wow - i really thought about what i'd do a lot.

i was inspired by your second picture and tried to do a long exposure too. problem is i don't have a tripod. apeture was f22 and shutterspeed 1,5 seconds. i fixed the camera with some tape and tried not to move :drama: if you look hard enough you can see that the second hand is moving, but i think the clock was too small and shutterspeed should have been longer -but it was not possible without a tripod.... anyway. that's it!

that's the song i was thinking about:
c-block: time is ticking away: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zk7zPgzsmdw

and the lyrics i had in mind:

Let's talk about time
tickin' away every day
so wake on up before it's gone away

[...]

Time is tickin' away
you've gotta - live your life
day by day
happy or sad, good or bad,
life is to short
you've gotta - keep your head

so i was snapping pics of the monster today and this one called out to me...cap!

naturally i thought of my fave song ever after i was finished with the pp on this one. breakaway by kelly clarkson. that song describes me to a t!

breakaway
grew up in a small town and when the rain would fall down
id just stare out my window
dreaming of what could be and if id end up happy
i would pray

trying hard to reach out
but when id try to speak out
felt like no one could hear me
want to belong here but something felt so wrong here
so id pray
i could break away.

i'll spread my wings and i'll learn how to fly
i'll do what it takes til i touch the sky.
and i'll make a wish take a chance make a change and break away.
out of the darkness and into the sun
but i wont forget all the ones that i love
i'll take a risk take a chance and make a change
and breakaway...

well i know this challenge was a little more difficult & somewhat limiting i suppose than the others. but with only 3 participants it was still hard to choose a "winner". i really liked all 4 entries for very different reasons.

so CONGRATULATIONS to: :cheer:

the combination of the idea plus the song lyrics really tied in well together. using photos & a clock to illustrate the idea was really cool!

thank you so much!!! :happydance:

i just love these challenges! i never really thought of taking a picture before i actually took it. so far it was always kind of spontaneously - so this is a new experience for me! and it's great that you can't cheat :smug:- whenever i had a "shooting" i searched the internet for ideas but here it really is MY idea
