Click-a-Pic Challenge #8 "Cover Story"

One of the great things about the digital photo age is all the possibilities that are out there. Have you ever wanted your photo on the cover of a magazine? Well this week's challenge is to take a photograph and turn it into a mock magazine cover. The subject matter is entirely up to you. Be creative, have fun, put your kids, or hobbies or artwork on display as a magazine cover! Who says you have to wait for National Geographic or Time or Newsweek or Creating Keepsakes to put you on the cover? Make your own.

Some tips for this challenge:

Remember the rules of composition? The rule of Simplicity is a good one to follow for this challenge.
When composing the photo remember to keep some blank space for text and/or graphics.
Look at your favorite magazines and their covers. Use them as inspiration.
Don't be intimidated. Putting together a mock magazine cover is pretty much the same as designing a scrapbook page! Have fun! :)

You have from*Friday Aug 14th*to*Thursday Aug 20th*to shoot your photos for this theme. Please submit only photos taken during that time frame. Below are some examples to get the creative juices flowing. Good luck and I look forward to seeing everyones photos!

I made these for a Flickr group I was a part of a few years ago. I plan on making a new one and posting it as my photoshop skills have gotten better since 2006/2007! :D

REMEMBER:
- You may post up to 2 photos per challenge.
- Post-processing and use of actions ARE ALLOWED.
- Photos must be taken by you during the challenge week.
- Photos must be posted in the *new* PHOTOGRAPHY gallery & in this thread.
- PLEASE SIZE PICS to no larger than 600px WIDE and/or TALL.*
- Please number or title your photographs for recognition.

ROFL! I'm laughing because this was my FAVORITE thing to do for my friends in high school....when I first discovered Photoshop. I also used to swap my friends heads into red carpet/press pics of celebrities. Oh and movie posters too....OMG I HAVE TO SEE IF I HAVE ANY STILL LOL.

ok so i cheated a little...I took a photo I took this last week and plugged it along with some random info into a "magazine cover maker" and this is what came out....

it's not spectacular and the layout doesn't really compliment the photo...but it sorta works.

so if you get in a pinch and want a "cheat sheet" take the photo(s) you take for this challenge and plug them into the magazine cover maker at BIG HUGE LABS (http://bighugelabs.com/). :smug:

although i'm sure all of you could come up with your own *better* ideas & fonts & layouts w/o the mag maker! :)

hey you guys! you inspired me! today we're going to celebrate my dad's bithday which was last week. i still don't have a present... we ordered something over the internet and it just doesn't come. my father kind of waits for it the whole time and whenever i met him during that last week i apologized, promising he'll get it the next day! and now is the party and i still don't have it :gah:

so i used the cover story idea to create a voucher! this is NOT my entry, the picture is from last year, but i wanted to show it to you anyway!

This was fun to do...I tried to do a hybrid layout for the scrap to submit challenge and then the idea came into my head...I make myself the winner with this layout!!!
