Pimp My Page Challenge #11 - BONUS NSD Edition

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!
In honor of the coolest holiday of all time, this month we have a BONUS template challenge.
Thanks to template diva Ingrid Fasquelle for another fabulous template.
So you've got two templates to PIMP and two chances to win so get busy and PIMP THAT PAGE!

HOW IT WORKS:
Download the template (http://www.mediafire.com/file/3t2zz5y4j1i/PC_PMPChallenge_NSD Bonus.zip). Pimp-ify it (using mostly PC products). Post your final product in the Main Gallery by May 31st and also post a link to your page in this thread. Winner will be announced June 1st.

HOW A WINNER IS SELECTED:
The TOP 10 pages will be selected (by ‘Top’ I might mean the funny, creative, imaginative, different, silly, clever, beautiful...not necessarily the technically ‘BEST’) and from those 10 pages, a random layout (by random number generation) will be selected and announced on May 31st. Top 10 pages will be revealed.

Okay, so I am a faithful challenge WATCHER...now I am ready to stop watching and start sharing :) SO the question is..am I just dumb?? I cannot seem to figure out how to download the file from MediaFire. I got as far as creating an account and saving the file into my MediaFire "My Files" THEN WHAT??:noidea:

Actually, you don't need an account at MediaFire to download the file.

And click the 'CLICK HERE TO START DOWNLOAD'
The box changes to 'YOUR DOWNLOAD IS STARTING'
And a grey download dialogue box pops up asking you to Open, Save or Cancel.

bear with me...I am new :gah: So I finished my layout and now when I go to upload it it says the file size is too large. I made the image smaller but still no luck. What size does it need to be to be accepted?

What program are you using Brianna?

You want to make a DUPLICATE copy of your page (so you don't accidentally save over your full size version), flatten it and resize it between 500x500 - 600x600 pixels. Make sure the dpi is now 72 instead of 300.

300dpi is high resolution for printing, 72dpi is low resolution for web-viewing. If you are using Photoshop you should have a 'Save for Web' option which will change the dpi for you after you resize it to 500 pixels.

Does that make sense? LOL.

YEY!!!! You did it Brianna!

**Note that if you used the 'Save For Web' sometimes the default setting is to save as .GIF file format. I see your page is saved as a .GIF. Change it to .JPG (there is probably a dropdown menu) and you will get better image quality on your photos. You want to reserve using GIF for more solid, graphic type images. Photos should be JPG. Hope that helps!!

So what is the purpose/benefit of merging and flattening once you are finished?

Brianna - well now that you mention it.....LOL. Saving for web as a JPG flattens the image anyways so I suppose flattening the image first is best because if you have a ton of layers and you try to resize/reduce a layered page it sucks up a lot of computer power and probably would take longer to save plus once your page is flattened and reduced you can add an overall effect like a SHARPEN before you save.

...maybe someone has a better answer! LOL
